Two weeks ago, Serena Williams had her baby in a West Palm Beach, Florida hospital.
Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr. was introduced to the world in an Instagram post and video shared by Serena.
The video cuts together both home video and social media posts from the entire course of William’s pregnancy. A Snapchat selfie she took of herself clutching the winner’s trophy at the Australian Open is included, with the caption “No one knows I’m 8 weeks pregnant.”
Williams told Vanity Fair back in August that she was first prompted to take a pregnancy test in January. She explained that at the time, the point of taking the test was to prove to her friend that she wasn’t pregnant. She recalls what went through her mind after seeing the positive test result: “Oh my God, this can’t be—I’ve got to play a tournament. How am I going to play the Australian Open? I had planned on winning Wimbledon this year.”
At the time of the Australian Open, only her Sister Venus, her fiancé Alexis Ohanian, her doctor, and two friends were aware of the pregnancy. She publically announced it months later. She plans on being back on the court by January.
At the end of the video, Williams reveals all the stats about baby Alexis, who is named after her father, Williams’ fiancé. Weight: 6 pounds and 14 ounces. Grand Slam titles? One.
