Food & Wine has recently reported that Issa Rae is channeling some of her obvious creativity into a new unexpected project. Known from the HBO comedy-drama Insecure, which is partially based on her famous web series Awkward Black Girl, Rae is certainly stepping out of the box these days.
It’s been reported that Rae’s production company plans to re-launch the former web series Butter & Brown – but this time it’s going to premiere on Aspire TV.
The series is scheduled to start in October. Vibe reports that along with Rae the series will be co-executive produced by Seth Brundle. Brundle and Leslie Antonoff will be the show’s co-hosts as well. To round out the team is Chef G. Garvin, known from his Turn Up the Heat series.
If the series is going to be anything like Rae’s YouTube videos, the recipes will likely be pretty simple to follow and won’t include too many (if any) uncommon ingredients. Odds are, some delicious, unique cocktails will be on the menu as well.
Actor Larenz Tate, Carla Hall from The Chew, as well as rappers Rick Ross and David Banner are scheduled to appear on upcoming episodes. The series will begin on October 3 at 8 pm ET.
But Issa also has some other plans for the upcoming weeks. Food & Wine commented that Rae will be rapping on the soundtrack for season two of Insecure.
