It seems unlikely that one of the most influential people of the 2010’s would be from a town in the middle-of-nowhere in the state Georgia, far from the capitals of the entertainment industry. However, it was the experience of growing up in Georgia that fueled a lot Donald Glover (aka Childish Gambino) music and the creation and of his massively popular show on FX, Atlanta.
This year in particular has been full of challenging and rewarding experiences for Glover. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Glover met with Billy Dee Williams, the actor behind Lando Calrissian, in order to prepare for playing the character in the upcoming Star Wars prequel focusing on Han Solo. Glover was also in Spider Man: Homecoming in a role especially tailored for him. Glover may even continue to play the same character in future Marvel movies.
Glover’s success is well earned, and he handles his fame extremely well. He does his best to keep the identity of his spouse and his child a secret, in order to keep the paparazzi out of their personal lives. After building a resume of acting in high-school plays and musicals, Glover was accepted to NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. Shortly after graduating, Glover became a writer on 30 Rock and an actor on the Community. There’s also the totally separate matter of Glover’s career as a successful rapper and stand up comedian.
With another season of Atlanta coming up, as well as a new Star Wars, it seems like Glover isn’t going anywhere for a long time.
